Common-Mode Chokes to damp interference

Toroidal-type common-mode chokes are optimally suited for suppression of symmetrical interference.

In conjunction with suitable capacitors, they are effectively and reliably capable of mastering practically the whole spectrum of possible power system conducted interference. The sources of such interference are in many cases devices which emit permanent high-frequency signals at frequency components of above 10.0 kHz. These take the form, among others, of electric motors, TRIAC or thyristor circuitry, switching transistors and other potential high-frequency sources.

  1. Connection methods
    - Crimping
    - Soldering connections
    - Moulded components up to and including flexible connecting lines direct from housing / moulding

  2. Functional principle
Two symmetrical windings of the same number of windings are positioned on a closed magnetic circuit. They are arranged in such a way that the operating current causes a contra-rotating magnetic field in the two-part windings. Only a low leakage inductance of the windings acts against the operating current and the symmetrical interference voltages. Our common-mode chokes permit a high operating current with no saturation. With a superimposition of the operating current with symmetrical interference there arises a high inductance vis-à-vis the differential current. The use of high-permeability cores makes it possible to implement chokes for the damping of symmetrical interference with a high inductance volume.
