Insulation-Displacement Contact Principle
Connection of conductors is quicker using insulation-displacement contacts than using Push-In solutions . It is then no longer necessary to strip the insulation from the conductors, but instead simply to insert and press them directly into the conductor entry without any preliminary treatment. Tiny knife-like insulationdisplacement contacts then penetrate through the outer insulation of the conductor – consisting normally of PVC or PE – thus making contact with the internal stranded copper wire(s) without damaging them.
Both PCB Terminal Blocks and connectors utilising insulationdisplacement contact technology are usually designed, for use on PCBs, for small conductors, since these are predominantly used in signal transmission. The conductors can be multiply reused, it is necessary only to remove the previously used length of conductor in advance.
